The "Green Tribology Innovation Network" has been established in the area of Advanced Environmental Materials of Green Network of Excellence (GRENE) program sponsored by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) of Japan. The Green Tribology Network is formed by nine institutes to study tribology for energy saving by using nano-technology.
The aims of this research network are to create novel materials (coatings and lubricants) for low friction and to optimize the tribological interface on the basis of the physical chemical elucidation of the friction mechanism. The final target is to realize super-lubrication and improve energy efficiency in mechanical systems. This fusion research network provides opportunities for young researchers and students to learn integrated knowledge of mechanics and chemistry for tribology.
